Stara Planina ("old mountain" in Serbian) is an extension of the Carpathian Mountains, which is separated by the Danube River at a place called the Iron Gates (in the current borders between Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia).
National Park since 1997, Stara Planina is the largest mountain in Eastern Serbia and one of the most beautiful natural places in the country. Still to be discovered, belongs to the main destinations and tourist offers of Serbia. It's continental climate makes that the mountain remain covered with snow for five months.
The nearest town is Niš, 70 km away from the resort and it has an international airport. It is the third largest city in Serbia. Located at the junction of Balkan and Europe motorway's, connecting Minor Asia to Europe, Niš is one of the oldest Balkans cities and from ancient times has been considered a gateway between East and West.
